THE BEGINNINGS
Katrina-Rose May Evans

1.Subcultures: I'm going for a contemporary hippie look, the kind of fashion that would have
been worn at the Woodstock music festival.
The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" were employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current or even not so current, popular mode of expression. However, more so in the modern era items termed 'not so current' may indeed fit into the term 'Retro.' Retro fashion allows rule shifts, such as 'old is suddenly new,' thus fashionable. The subculture that influences my brand mostly are a mix of old & the new, based mostly on the the earthy boho hippie styles from the late 60's with a dash of the florals from the 50's mixed to make new fashions.
2.Totems: Keeping in touch with the hippie scene & nature I've looked at different flowers, birds & trees to use as totems.
FLOWER POWER seems to fit perfectly.
3.Symbols: Peace signs, ying & yang, old combies, birds of peace are all symbols that fit the era & subcultures that i am basing my brand on
4.Colour: Think old sepia photos & pretty pale florals
. A dark brown will be the main colour
used accompanied by a very very light brown or cream, a pastel pink/peachy colour, pastel blue & pastel green. The exact colour palette is still being developed.
5.Historical Style: late 60's to early 70's.
The boho hippie look from Woodstock. The Woodstock Music festival was held during a time of military conflict abroad and racial discord at home, and participants quickly became aware that the event had taken on a meaning beyond its original intent. The site of Woodstock became, for four days, a countercultural mini-nation. Minds were "open", drugs were used, and "love" was "free".Yet, in tune with the idealistic hopes of the 1960s, Woodstock satisfied most attendees. Especially memorable were the sense of social harmony, the quality of music, and the overwhelming mass of people, many sporting bohemian dress, behavior, and attitudes.

These are messages that my brand will be trying to show through its prints on t-shirts etc.
